My Word of the Year

I don’t know if it’s trite to say that I can’t believe that 2023 will be over soon. Every year seems to follow a similar pattern – the early months feel much longer in comparison to the those at the tail end. But it can’t be a cliché if it’s true, right?

Maybe it’s the rush and hustle – and yes magic – of this time of year. Maybe we’re all trying to pack in as much as we can before the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve.

For me, I like to take time and savour the last few days, or even moments, of a waning year. An important part of this reflection is intention setting – clarifying how I envision the upcoming year in terms of sights, sounds, and emotions.

One of my favourite rituals is choosing my word of the year.

Something that I can use as a compass – something to guide, inspire, realign, and keep me on track, no matter where I find myself, what projects I take on, no matter who I work with or what adventures I choose.

In 2024, my word is “thrive.” It’s my commitment to make every day count, to embrace challenges as stepping stones, to foster beautiful, meaning relationships, to cultivate and lean into learning opportunities, to nurture personal and professional development, to cultivate a life that truly flourishes and to spread kindness and compassion everywhere.

I invite you to explore the transformative power of selecting your own ‘word of the year’, a beacon that aligns with the core of your aspirations. Here’s to a year of thriving and the boundless possibilities that come with embracing the fullness of life

We like to believe we’re rational. Thoughtful. Deliberate.
But most of the time? We’re not.

Our brains are wired first and foremost for survival, not logic.
